The Lantern Festival is a Chinese festival with a tradition of more than 2000 years. During that time
various names and spiritual contensts were associated with the festival by various dynasties of emperors.
In former days candles were used to light up the hand made lanterns which mostly were
manufactured from thin paper. Nowadays another kind of laterns light up the whole scenery of celebration:
About 160kW of Lamp power lit up the whole western facade of the Taipei City Hall.
Each evening of the festival 22 specialized high power projectors (made from metal, glass
and many other materials) and their acessories for moving and slide changing operated a grand show.
